TASTING NOTES
Ruby color with elegant garnet red reflections, typical notes of wild berries and dried flowers emerge on the nose, the secondary aromas of black pepper and the prominent spices of tobacco also participate in the bouquet. On the palate it is full-bodied, licorice flavors are hidden among hints of undergrowth and still spicy notes. The Napoleon is dry, velvety and balanced in the mouth. The tannins are well present but enveloping, they give a long final walk.
PAIRINGS
The canonical pairing includes red meat or game with sauces that can bring balsamic notes, traditional combination with semi-hard and seasoned cheeses. Particular suggestion is the "camoscio al civet", chamois marinated for 12 hours in wine and served with polenta.
VALLE D'AOSTA DONNAS DOC "NAPOLEON" 2014 - CAVES COOPERATIVES DES DONNAS:
Napoleon is a historic wine, it was produced for the first time with the 1997 harvest, and marketed on the occasion of the celebration of the bicentenary of Napoleon's passage through the Aosta Valley. The emperor stopped in Donnas in May 1800 and was able to taste the typical wines of Donnas, which the Caves Cooperatives of Donnas continue to produce, choosing not to abandon the traditional cultivation of Picotendro nebbiolo. The Napoleon rests for more than 12 months in oak barrels, a long refinement that gives body and rounds off the vibrant character of this wine. In the glass you can taste the history, tradition and pride of the Caves Cooperatives of Donnas.
